Small Batch, Big Difference: What You're Really Buying

When you begin paying attention to what you put on your body—the products you use every day, the ingredients they contain, and how they're made—you quickly realize that not all products are created equally.

There's a world of difference between something mass-produced for scale and profit and something artisanally crafted in small batches with intention and care.

When it comes to mass production, the goal is simple: make a lot of the same product, fast. Think machinery and assembly lines working to maximize output and keep costs low.

The moment a product is driven purely by profit, every part of its creation is built around that goal. That means you’re getting:

  • Low-quality, toxic ingredients like synthetic preservatives, including parabens and phthalates (known hormone disruptors found in everyday products like deodorants and lotions).

  • Zero consideration for the earth that shows up as environmental degradation and waste. Plastic bottles and packaging are a big part of that, contributing to microplastics which are now being found in places like semen, the placenta, and breast milk—which is not so far off when you think about it.

We dump so much plastic into the Earth—our mother—and as her children, we are not separate from her. What ends up in the soil, the water, and the air eventually finds its way back to us. What's in our mother will also be in us.

  • No bang for ya buck here. When something is mass produced, quality goes out the window because profit is at the root of how it’s made. When all you care about is making money, every decision around that product is based on increasing profits not the quality of the product itself...catch my drift?

When it comes to a product, I also consider the experience it gives me. Yes—products aren’t just things; they’re experiences. And when you’re working with quality artisanal products, everything—from the intention behind their creation to the experience of using them—is chef’s kiss. That means you’re getting:

  • Thoughtfully sourced, high-quality ingredients. When you love what you’re creating, you naturally care about what goes into it because it shapes how the product will be experienced by the people you’re serving. From that level of intention and care, every detail matters.

  • Small-batch production. When products are made in small batches, there are often only one or a handful of people personally tending to every step of the process. There might be some machines involved but it’s not an assembly line style of production.

Our go-to alchemist watching over a small-batch production of our Pine Pollen Spagyric, a 3-4 week labor intensive process done with precision and a whole lot of love.

  • The Earth is often considered in the decision-making process, from the sourcing of ethically and responsibly sourced ingredients to the sustainability of packaging and production practices.

  • The price point reflects the quality and care that goes into every batch. When people pour their time, intention, and energy into creating something they genuinely believe in, every aspect of the product matters—from the ingredients that are sourced to the way it is packaged and delivered. It's not just about making a product; it's about creating an experience that reflects the values and craftsmanship behind it.

I once purchased a tension-relieving balm from an herbalist whose passion was helping people feel good in their bodies. The entire experience felt divine. From our brief interaction to the thoughtful design of the packaging, everything felt intentional and special.

When I got home, I massaged some onto my tense shoulders and it melted right in. Its gentle aroma invited me to slow down and take a few deep breaths. In that moment, I realized I wasn't simply using a product—I was experiencing the care, intention, and craftsmanship of the person who created it.

That experience transformed me from a mass consumer into a conscious one. The things I purchase must provide value beyond a cheap price tag.

The reality is that where you put your money matters. Your purchasing choices influence whether companies prioritize quality, human health, and the health of our planet–or continue chasing profits at the expense of all three.

With love and gratitude,
